Handicraft is one of the goods that has strong export potential in Viet Nam, but not any factory or trading enterprises know the procedures how to export the handicrafts. Handicraft wares such as ceramics, lacquer, bamboo and rattan wares, handicrafts are very popular in the European and American markets, but when they are imported, exporters and importers need to acknowledge some of the procedures as follows:
Procedures for exporting handicrafts:
Step 1: The sender clearly states the name of commodity (weight, material) for the carrier. Especially if it is wooden or made of natural wood, there must be a certificate of origin and a red invoice from the supplier, in order to prove the origin of non-precious wood, illegal exploitation.
Step 2: The sender will provide the full list of goods to be shipped (what, how many / each, what is the value of each item) for the carrier to do the customs procedures.
Step 3: The sender should provide the village certificate to prove the origin of the materials produced from the factory (usually in the traditional craft villages of Vietnam) to the logistics company to carry out procedures for certificates of origin (C / O). C/O also allow foreign recipients to have import tax incentives and certified products manufactured in Vietnam. (See also Export Certificate of Merchandise).
Step 4: Depending on the characteristics of the goods, the international forwarder will require the sender to provide additional relevant documents in order to: Fumigation for fragile goods (ceramic goods) in wood barrels or thinned, made food safety certificates for food …
Step 5: In addition, the sender or exporter should be a legal person or business entity to appear on the customs declaration. In cases where the sender is an individual or an individual business household, or a commercial enterprise, which cannot represent on the custom declaration, the international forwarder may authorize them to perform the custom.
Note: For fragile handicrafts such as ceramics or lacquer or oil paintings, the transporter will require the sender to pack very carefully to ensure international shipping by sea to avoid risks. The carriers will also often provide warehousing services such as packing and sealing of these items.
Step 6: The exporter or forwarder will send the original documents including: Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Fumigation Certificate, Phyto sanitary (if needed ), the original documents through international express delivery to the recipient so that the importer can get documents for import procedures at the port of destination.
